Raúl Fernández-Cavada Mateos
Raúl Fernández-Cavada Mateos (born 13 March 1988), known simply as Raúl, is a Spanish footballer who plays for CD Mirandés as a goalkeeper.
==Football career==
Born in Bilbao, Biscay, Rául joined Athletic Bilbao's prolific youth system, Lezama, at the age of only 10. He made his senior debuts with the reserve side in the third division, then went on to spend two seasons on loan in the same category, first with UB Conquense〔(Raúl Fernández, cedido al Conquense (Raúl Fernández, loaned to Conquense) ); El Correo, 3 July 2008 〕 then Granada CF:〔(El portero rojiblanco Raúl Fernández jugará cedido esta campaña en el Granada (''Rojiblancos'' goalkeeper Raúl Fernández will play on loan this season in Granada) ); El Correo, 3 August 2009 〕 with the latter club, he was the most utilized player in his position in a return to the second level after an absence of more than two decades.
Raúl was definitely promoted to Athletic's first team for 2010–11, following the retirement of veteran Armando. On 23 April 2011, as longtime starter Gorka Iraizoz was suspended following his fifth booking of the campaign, he made his La Liga debut, performing well in a 2–1 home win against Basque neighbours Real Sociedad.〔( claim derby spoils ); ESPN Soccernet, 23 April 2011〕
